just about a week to go before the Bundesliga kicks off, league and cup winners Bayer Leverkusen will host Bundesliga runners-up Stuttgart in the BayArena in Leverkusen. Bayer Leverkusen

had a truly remarkable season, winning both their domestic trophies. They almost won the treble when Atalanta knocked them out in the Europa League final. With their first Bundesliga title and second cup triumph in their 120-year history, this double is particularly special. Although there were rumours that some key players, including coach Xabi Alonso, might be leaving the club, it didn't happen and they have revamped their squad. It is therefore fair to expect them to be among the favourites to reclaim the Bundesliga title. They are currently seen by the bookmakers as the second-most likely team to win the title, with odds of 3.51, just behind Bayern Munich (1.5).

Stuttgart had a superb season last year. They finished second in the league but were far from winning the title, with Bayer 17 points clear. However, they struggled to close the gap in midfield two years into last season, making this performance all the more impressive. However, they lost some key players over the summer, and although they have strengthened their squad, we believe they are still significantly weaker. **

Bayer Leverkusen vs Stuttgart Predictions: Over 2.5 Goals**
Under Xabi Alonso, Bayer Leverkusen play exciting, free-flowing attacking football and they will not attempt to change some of the things they did so well last season. In the Bundesliga, Alonso led his team to 89 goals in 34 games - 2.6 goals per game. At home, they are even better, averaging 2.8 goals per game.

Similarly, Stuttgart also played well in attack, scoring 78 goals, the third most efficient team behind Bayern Munich and Bayer Leverkusen. Although their top scorer Giraisi has left and they are not as efficient at scoring, they still have good players up front and we think they can score against any team. Both teams have scored over 2.5 goals in 25 of their 34 Bundesliga games - 73.5% - and continued their high-goal streak in pre-season.

Bayer Leverkusen have scored over 2.5 goals in three of their four friendlies, while Stuttgart have scored over 2.5 in four of their five friendlies. Last season, the two teams met

three times and the results were over 2.5 twice. However, even in the low-goal (1:1) we saw two goals scored, and it is amazing that we didn't see more, given the combined xG of 6.33. Given the current run of

form and all that data, we expect at least three goals in this Super Cup.
